The Apache Junction Police Department has announced an arrest in the death of 64-year-old Gilbert Tellez. AJPD reports that Tellez lost his life on Sunday evening. Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a 911 call about the death of a man at a residence in the 200 block of North Palo Verde Drive.

Officers responded to the scene where they found Tellez deceased with signs of trauma. AJPD reports that it immediately apprehended the suspect, 51-year-old Chester Lee Rugel, nearby.

Rugel has been charged with First-Degree Murder (Premeditated). AJPD says this was an isolated incident not related to domestic violence. Anyone with information is asked to contact AJPD at 480-982-8260.
