Anchorage Police investigating after man shot in the upper body

Update – Anchorage Police say they have made an arrest in connection to this shooting. APD believes 25-year-old Savon T. Berry and another man got into a verbal altercation in the parking lot. At some point during the altercation, Berry allegedly pulled a gun and fired.

The victim was struck in the upper body. Following the shooting, police say Berry fled the scene on foot. He was taken into custody around 8:26 p.m. near Derby Way and Northern Lights without incident. Berry was remanded on charges of Assault 1, Misconduct Involving a Weapon III, and Tampering with Evidence.

Original – A man was shot in the upper body and is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. The Anchorage Police Department is investigating the shooting. APD reports that officers responded to a report of shots being fired just after 7:30 p.m. on June 3, 2024.

APD believes a man was in a business parking lot near the northwest corner of Boniface Parkway and East Northern Lights Boulevard when he was shot in the upper body. The victim managed to drive away from the scene before crashing near East Northern Lights Boulevard and Wesleyan Drive.

AFD medics transported the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Expect a large police presence in the area as the shooting is investigated. No one has been arrested and there is no suspect information available at this time.
