Altavista, Virginia – The Altavista Police Department says a Saturday night shooting left a 33-year-old male victim in serious condition.
According to APD, officers responded to the area of Novelty Street and Amherst Avenue in reference to shots fired around 11:23 p.m. on December 28, 2024.
Police say responding officers found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the area of Amherst and Main.
The 33-year-old male victim was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently in serious condition, according to APD.
Police are looking for a silver 2001 Honda with Virginia license THU-6368. Anyone with information is asked to call APD at 434-369-7425.
APD says Dews is charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Attempted Robbery, Grand Larceny, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Dews was booked into the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.
