Update – The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office has identified the individuals involved in the murder-suicide in Allentown. Authorities say Livi E. Beltran Fernandez died of multiple gunshot wounds. Her manner of death was determined to be a homicide.

Jesus J. Cruz Ortiz reportedly died of a single gunshot wound to the head. His death has been ruled a suicide. Authorities say Cruz Ortiz is the sole suspect and no one else is believed to have been involved.

Original – The Allentown Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on Wednesday. APD reports that its officers responded to an address in the 2000 block of East Cedar Street around 12:17 a.m. on September 4, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found a 53-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The man and woman succumbed to their injuries. APD believes that the male shot the female before taking his own life.

APD says the couple lived together and were in a domestic relationship. No other details are available at this time.
