Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office arrests Penn Hills man for allegedly raping his former girlfriend

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus has announced the arrest of a Penn Hills man accused of raping his former girlfriend.

Sheriff Kraus said in a statement that 38-year-old Raymond Byrdsong Jr. is facing a number of charges, including Rape, Aggravated Indecent Assault, and Sexual Assault.

The charges stem from an incident on December 12, 2024 involving Byrdsong’s former girlfriend. Authorities say the victim reported that Byrdsong forced her into the basement of her home and sexually assaulted her.

The alleged victim was able to leave and go to her mother’s house to call 911. Sheriff Kraus said that Penn Hills Police responded to the victim’s residence where they found Byrdsong outside inside a running vehicle.

Byrdsong allegedly fled and has been on the run ever since. Authorities arrested Byrdsong at a residence on Shenandoah Drive in Penn Hills. Police say he was hiding underneath a bed with a blanket on top of him.
