A man has been arrested after allegedly admitting to releasing three dogs due to his concerns about his ability to care for them. The Lower Chichester Police Department reports that officers responded to the rear of the Lawn Croft Cemetery for a report of three found dogs around 4:55 p.m. on May 9, 2024.
At the scene, police found the three dogs in the rear field. The dogs were found alone by a woman who had stopped at the cemetery. One was a 15-year-old female Pitbull named Coco. The two others were female Pitbull mixes named Celery and Diamond.
Brandywine SPCA was called to take the dogs due to some health concerns for the senior dog and minor injuries. Over the next week, police say the investigation led to the identity of the owner, Ali Bilal Muhammad Bey of Marcus Hook.
Police say Bey admitted to having released the dogs due to his concerns for his ability to care for them and regretted his decision.
