The Albany Police Department has announced the arrest of 34-year-old Brittany Hawkins. APD says Hawkins was arrested following an investigation into an injured pedestrian on Thursday morning on Manning Boulevard.
APD says its officers responded to Lark Drive and Manning Boulevard around 8:30 a.m. on October 31, 2024 for reports of an individual struck by a vehicle. Police say they located a 28-year-old man suffering from serious head injuries.
The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center where he is in critical condition. Police say the victim was walking on the west side sidewalk when Hawkins intentionally drove onto the sidewalk, hit the victim, and crashed into an apartment at Upper Sky Line apartments.
APD says the victim and Hawkins are neighbors who appeared to have been engaged in a verbal altercation before the incident. Hawkins is currently charged with one count of Attempted Murder 2nd and remanded into the Albany County Jail.
