Alameda Police say one is dead after jumping from Bay Farm Island Bridge

The Alameda Police Department says one person is dead after jumping from the Bay Farm Island Bridge. APD reports that its Communications Center received several calls about a driver blocking the bridge around 1:40 p.m. on June 19, 2024.

At the scene, officers learned that the driver had exited the vehicle and was standing on the ledge of the bridge. Officers requested assistance from the CARE Team and the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department’s Air Support Team.

The individual entered the water. Police used life rings and entered the water before bringing the individual to shore. The person was provided aid before being transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
