The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that a deputy had been struck by gunfire during an encounter with a wanted suspect. At 10:15 p.m., deputies tried to contact a wanted suspect. The suspect reportedly exited a residence with a firearm leading to an exchange of gunfire.

One Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy was struck in the extremities before being transported to a local hospital for treatment. The adult male suspect was pronounced deceased following the shooting. The Critical Incident Response Team will investigate this shooting.
