The Abilene Police Department reports that it is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred outside Spanky P’s Bar early Sunday. APD says its officers responded to the bar in the 2400 block of South Seventh Street for a report of a shooting around 2 a.m. on October 27.

Authorities say first responders found a 30-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he passed away. APD has identified the victim as Hayden Smith of Abilene.

Investigators say an altercation occurred inside the bar between at least two people. A second altercation occurred outside in the parking area and the victim was shot. APD asks anyone with information to contact the Police Department at 673-8331 or Crime Stoppers at 325-676-8477.
