The Portland Police Bureau has announced that a person is deceased following an officer-involved shooting in the Sumner neighborhood. North Precinct officers responded to reports of theft in the 9000 block of Northeast Marx Drive around 10:03 AM on December 6, 2023.

Upon arrival, two officers noticed a recreational vehicle parked on the street. At one point, there was an encounter between the two officers and an adult male. The encounter led to one of the officers using deadly force.

The adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The officers involved will be placed on administrative leave according to standard protocol.
