A jury has convicted three men in a murder-for-hire scheme in Nashville that killed two

A federal jury had returned guilty verdicts against three men charged in a murder-for-hire scheme. United States Attorney Henry C. Leventis for the Middle District of Tennessee announced that 38-year-old Eric Maund, 48-year-old Bryon Brockway, and 32-year-old Adam Carey had been convicted of murder-for-hire with death resulting. The jury reached its verdict after a two-and-a-half-week trial.

Brockway and Carey were also convicted of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping with death resulting. 49-year-old Gilad Peled had previously pleaded guilty to the same charges and agreed to testify against the others at trial. According to evidence presented to the jury, Maund had an extramarital affair with Holly Williams of Nashville. In March 2020, William Lanway allegedly attempted to extort Maund using his affair with Williams.

At the time, Maund was an executive for his family’s auto dealerships in Austin, Texas. It was alleged that Maund hired Peled to respond to the extortion attempt. Peled hired Brockway and Carey to travel to Nashville and investigate Lanway and Williams. Peled testified that when Lanway continued to try to extort Maund, Maund agreed to pay Carey and Brockway $100,000 each to murder Lanway and Williams.

Evidence presented in court showed that Maund had wired Peled $150,000 on March 12, 2020 which is the day the murders occurred. That day, Brockway and Carey kidnapped Williams and Lanway in West Nashville and took them to a nearby construction site where they were murdered. The victims’ bodies were discovered inside Williams’ vehicle on March 13, 2020. Maund wired Peled another $900,00 as payment. Peled withdrew cash to pay Brockway and Carey.
