The Fresno Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal shooting on July 18, 2024. FPD reports that officers responded to the area of East Woodward Avenue and Ninth Street for a two-round Shot Spotter alert around 10:30 p.m. on July 18, 2024.

As officers were responding, a 911 call reported that there were two gunshot victims. At the scene, responding officers found 21-year-old Darius Lopez suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body.

Police also found a 19-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. The victims were transported to Community Regional Medical Center where Lopez succumbed to his injuries.

The 19-year-old female victim is in stable condition. Homicide Detectives say that Lopez and the female were inside a vehicle when an unknown gunman approached on foot and shot at them. The motive for the shooting is not known at this time.
