The Houston Police Department has announced charges against a 19-year-old suspect in connection to a fatal shooting. HPD reports that 19-year-old Jaden Matthew Yates-Lawal has been charged with murder.

Around 2:20 a.m. on July 8, 2024, residents of an apartment complex at 10630 Beechnut Street called 911 after hearing gunshots. Residents found the victim lying in the common area suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The victim was later identified as 49-year-old Albert Brent. Yates-Lawal is also charged in connection to an unrelated robbery incident at the same apartment complex.
