A suspect is dead following a shooting involving the Pueblo Police Department. PPD reports that it received a call from residents in the area of the 2100 block of Aztec Drive about a man armed with an AR-15 style rifle firing rounds around 1:16 p.m. on July 30, 2024.

PPD officers responded to the scene where they attempted to contact the suspect. Officers later witnessed the male suspect entering a residence in the 2100 block of South Drive. Officers surrounded the residence and tried to communicate with the suspect.

PPD says the suspect shot at officers. At least one officer returned fire. Officers attempted to communicate with the suspect without success. A SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiators, and Drone Units responded to the scene.

SWAT eventually entered the residence and found the suspect deceased. No one else was located inside the residence. No officers or other civilians were injured during the incident.
