Aurora Police find eight-year-old taken during home invasion

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a home invasion involving two men. APD reports that two men are in custody and an eight-year-old taken during the home invasion has been recovered in Sullivan County, Indiana.

Around 10:14 p.m. on Monday, APD officers and Firefighters responded to the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive for a report of a home invasion. Officers determined that two men forced their way into the residence injuring the homeowner and taking an eight-year-old.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officers learned that a female was in the area and drove the suspect away from the scene. APD says the offenders were the child’s father, uncle, and grandmother.

A vehicle believed to be involved was found by the Aurora Police Department around 10:50 p.m. Officers carried out a traffic stop and identified the driver as the child’s grandmother 58-year-old Lisa C. Bearden.

Police say Bearden was in the vehicle alone with several firearms. Another vehicle believed to be occupied by two men and the child was located in Sullivan County by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

The child was found safe. 30-year-old Joshua T. Bearden and 35-year-old Christopher A. Bearden were taken into custody. Both men are charged with two counts of Home Invasion.
