The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred just before 8 p.m. on Monday. MPD reports that its officers responded to a report of a man seen falling off a moped in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue Northeast.
At the scene, officers found the victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical aid was immediately provided. DC Fire and EMS reached the scene before pronouncing the victim deceased.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe that the shooting did not occur in the immediate area of Catholic University’s campus. Instead, it is believed that the victim traveled on a moped to the location where he was found.
