A 35-year-old Chino Hills man has been arrested for murder in connection to a death on Park Newport. The Newport Beach Police Department reports that its officers responded to the 1200 block of Park Newport for a welfare check around 6:38 p.m. on July 26, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found a deceased adult male victim who had signs of trauma. NBPD detectives responded to investigate. Detectives arrested 35-year-old Brandon Christian Chanman in connection to the slaying.

Detectives say the investigation indicated that Chanman and the victim were acquaintances. Chanman was taken into custody on July 29 and booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of Murder.
