The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that no one was struck by gunfire during the incident. It started around 3 p.m. when deputies tried to stop a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 4500 block of Veterans Boulevard.

Sheriff Lopinto explained that the suspect and vehicle were the focus of an ongoing investigation. As a deputy was removing the adult passenger, he fired his service weapon at the driver.

The suspect continued to flee in the stolen vehicle leading to a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit concluded after the suspect vehicle crashed into a civilian vehicle near the intersection of Causeway Boulevard and 26th Street.

The suspect allegedly led deputies on a brief foot pursuit before the suspect was finally apprehended.
