Update – The Charlottesville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a possible armed and dangerous shooting suspect. CPD is looking for Gustavo Junior Laurent in connection to a shooting on Market Street on July 28, 2024.

CPD reports that Laurent is wanted for Malicious Wounding and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.

Original – The Charlottesville Police Department is currently investigating a shooting with an injury. CPD reports that officers responded to Market Street and 2nd Street Northwest for a reported shooting.

At the scene, officers found at least one victim who was transported to UVA Hospital for treatment. CPD says that Market Street will be closed between 1st Street and 2nd Street as the shooting is investigated.

A large police presence should be expected in the area.
