Update – Surprise Police confirm that the 33-year-old male victim has succumbed to his injuries. The 18-year-old male shooter is in custody at this time.

Original – In Arizona, the Surprise Police Department is currently investigating a shooting. The incident happened on Saturday evening. SPD reports that it will have 163rd Avenue closed between Grand Avenue and Pat Tillman until the matter is resolved.

SPD confirms there is no threat to the public and the shooter is in custody. One male subject suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Police expect 163rd Avenue to be closed for several hours.

Residents are asked to use Happy Valley as an alternate route. No other details are available at this time.
