The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 39-year-old Jose L. Montoya after a juvenile likely gave birth to his child. CPSO reports that its deputies responded to a local hospital in Lake Charles around 3 a.m. on July 27, 2024 after a girl under 13 gave birth to a child.

CPSO says the investigation determined that the victim stated Montoya had sexual intercourse with her several times over the past two years. It is alleged that Montoya confirmed the allegations when detectives spoke with him.

Montoya also advised detectives that the newborn was likely his child. Montoya was booked on charges of 1st Degree Rape. Bond has not been set at this time.
