A man is dead after being shot by members of the Corpus Christi Police Department. CCPD reports that its officers responded to 4101 Brett at the Four Winds Apartments for a disturbance around 9:40 p.m. on July 22, 2024.

Once officers reached the scene, the suspect allegedly came out of the apartment and asked officers if they were ready to die. CCPD says the suspect produced an AR-type weapon when he came back out and confronted officers.

Officers fired their primary weapons hitting the suspect who retreated inside his apartment and shut the door. Neighboring apartments were cleared. Officers eventually found the suspect deceased.

CCPD says no details are available on the suspect at this time. Two involved officers will be put on administrative leave. No officers or other civilians were injured during the incident.
