An infant has been left in critical condition following an alleged assault. The baby’s mother is behind bars charged with Assault of a Child. The Spokane Valley Police Department reports that Major Crimes Detectives are investigating the near death of a 5-month-old baby.
The infant remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Around 8:15 p.m. on July 21, 2024, deputies responded to a report of a baby who was sleeping and possibly died at an apartment in the 12800 block of East Mansfield Avenue.
At the scene, deputies found Spokane Valley Fire and AMR Medics performing CPR and life-saving efforts on the approximate five-month-old infant. A deputy contacted the mother, 22-year-old Amlyann Harry, and escorted her out of the apartment.
The infant was transported to an area hospital. Major Crimes Detectives responded to the scene. Detectives interviewed Harry and established probable cause to charge her with Assault of a Child 1st Degree.
