A man is dead following a stabbing at an apartment in Chula Vista on Friday night. The Chula Vista Police Department reports that its officers responded to a possible stabbing at the Terra Vista Apartments in Otay Ranch around 8 p.m. on July 19, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found an unresponsive man suffering from stab wounds in his apartment at 1441 Santa Lucia Road. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time although CVPD says he is a 49-year-old Hispanic man. CVPD says the preliminary information indicates that a suspect broke into the apartment wearing a mask and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene.

It is believed that the suspect is a man who was wearing a dark hoodie and dark shoes. He may have fled the scene on a motorized scooter with blue wheels. Detectives are working to provide more suspect information.
