Greensboro Police investigating shooting at apartment on West Cornwallis Drive

The Greensboro Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting. GPD reports that it was notified that a citizen arrived at Fire Station 5 at 1401 Westover Terrace suffering from a gunshot wound around 10 a.m. on July 19.

The victim informed authorities that he was shot at an apartment in the 2200 block of West Cornwallis Street where he claimed there was another victim. The victim at the fire station was transported to an area hospital for treatment and released.

Officers responded to the apartment complex and found a second victim. 30-year-old Christopher Bennet was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other details are available at this time. GPD is investigating the shooting at the 20th homicide of the year.
