The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a charge of Murder against 38-year-old Louis Gargiso. Gargiso is also charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

The charges were announced by Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew Kunz on July 19, 2024 and stem from the death of 74-year-old Robert Sunris. At the scene, officers found Sunris suffering from a stab wound and a knife near the body. The Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office carried out a post mortem and determined that the victim died by homicide.

Authorities say Gargiso and Sunris were roommates. Gargiso is accused of being responsible for the murder. Gargiso was taken into custody and booked into the Ocean County Jail.
