The Joliet Police Department is currently investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred Saturday morning. JPD reports that its officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of South Joliet Street for a report of a shooting.
At the scene, responding officers found a 39-year-old female victim who suffered a gunshot wound to her left leg. The victim received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center.
JPD believes the victim was on the front porch of the residence when her 34-year-old ex-boyfriend stopped in front of the residence and fired multiple shots from inside a vehicle. The victim was struck once in the leg.
The suspect’s vehicle was found outside a residence in the 800 block of Julia Avenue a short time later. Officers learned that the suspect had left the residence driving a different vehicle. The second vehicle was found unoccupied near an apartment building in Braidwood around 12:00 p.m..
The suspect was found in an acquaintance’s apartment and taken into custody by the Braidwood Police Department. The suspect’s identity is not being revealed at this time.
