According to a press release from the Austin Police Department, homicide investigators are investigating the city’s 63rd homicide of 2023. Around 12:37 PM on November 22, 2023, officers responded to a disturbance call at the intersection of Deer Run Drive and Blue Dawn Trail. At the scene, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound. 17-year-old Alexander Jaimes was transported to a local hospital where he later passed away.

Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. During the investigation, detectives determined that Jaimes and a female suspect were involved in a verbal conflict that turned physical. At some point, the suspect shot Jaimes.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Authorities say the female suspect was known to the victim. There is no ongoing threat to the community.
