The DeKalb County Police Department is investigating a homicide after the victim’s body was recovered on June 17. DCPD reports that it was notified of a deceased person in the woods of 6501 Old Hampton Drive on June 17.

Authorities say the victim was fatally shot and left in the woods where the suspect tried to conceal the body. On July 11, 2024, the suspect was identified and taken into custody. At this time, the suspect is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
