The Columbus Police Department has arrested 20-year-old Kyle Dean for the alleged stabbing death of his pregnant wife and her fetus. CPD officers responded to the 100 block of 20th Avenue at East Canty Homes for a stabbing around 1:48 p.m. on July 5, 2024.

At the scene, officers found a female victim, 20-year-old Chasity Dean, suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional where it was determined that she was pregnant.

The mother and fetus were pronounced deceased at 2:29 p.m. by an emergency room doctor. CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assume control of the investigation.

CPD says the preliminary investigation indicated that 20-year-old Kyle Dean was the suspect. Kyle is the husband of the oldest victim. He was taken into custody at a home in East Alabama and transported to the Lee County Jail.
