Multiple people have been arrested following a fight and stabbing at the Pier near Tower 14. The Santa Monica Police Department reports that its officers responded to a 911 call about several males fighting north of the Pier around 2:21 p.m. on June 29.
SMPD was informed that one of the involved parties had been stabbed. It is alleged that the fight started when a vendor, Efigenio Tacuba, approached a group of beachgoers and sexually battered multiple female victims.
Others in the group confronted Tacuba who asked for help from other vendors. SMPD says vendors armed themselves with belts, umbrella poles, and at least one knife. One victim suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound.
Another victim suffered a possible broken ankle. The victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. SMPD says four individuals were arrested and charged with felony assault and one with multiple counts of sexual battery.
Efigenio Tacuba, Jorge Luis Cruz Murcia, Samuel Manzanarez Hernandez, and Oscar Samuel Hernandez were arrested. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Watch Commander at 310-458-8427.
