Vacaville Police arrests man who tried to stab a victim at Shop Heroic on Friday

The Vacaville Police Department has arrested a suspect who allegedly tried to stab an employee at the Shop Heroic Wholesale Outlet. VPD reports that dispatch received a call from the manager of the shop on Elmira Road around 1 p.m. on July 5, 2024.

The manager informed authorities that a man had just tried to stab one of her employees. Dispatchers determined that the man still had the knife, was not wearing a shirt, and was last seen heading toward Nut Tree and Elmira Road.

Traffic officers in the area located the suspect. VPD says the officers held the suspect at gunpoint and gave commands to stop and keep his hands in the air. VPD alleges the man initially complied but had a menacing glare in his eyes.

The man allegedly dropped his hands toward his waistband and began walking aggressively toward the officers. One officer prepared to use his Taser. The man finally complied with officers’ commands and was detained.

VPD says the man headbutted an officer who was wearing a motorcycle helmet. VPD says 40-year-old Steven Daniel Case had committed an unreported strong-arm robbery at Walmart earlier that morning.

He had allegedly attempted to stab a person at Shop Heroic and slashed tires in the parking lot while leaving. The suspect had numerous prior arrests over the past few months. As a result, a bail enhancement was authored.
