Seattle Police arrest man for armed carjacking after meeting victim through Facebook Marketplace

A man has been arrested after carjacking a victim during a Facebook Marketplace meet-up. The Seattle Police Department says the incident happened in North Seattle last Thursday. Around 4:13 p.m. on June 27, 2024, officers responded to an armed robbery in the 1100 block of North 83rd Street.

At the scene, officers located two victims who had their vehicle stolen at gunpoint. It was determined that the victims previously sold their vehicle on Facebook Marketplace. The suspects returned the vehicle and later suspiciously attempted to purchase it again.

When the victims met the suspects for the second time, their vehicle was stolen at gunpoint. A SWAT officer located the stolen vehicle on Aurora Avenue North near Greenlake. SWAT and other officers carried out a high-risk stop and arrested the sole occupant and primary suspect.

SPD says a semi-automatic pistol was recovered from inside the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the owners. The 22-year-old suspect was booked into the King County Jail on a charge of 1st Degree Robbery.

The two other suspects have not been found.
