Greenville Police investigating two weekend homicides with two men dead

Update – The Greenville Police Department has arrested multiple suspects in connection to the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Michael Washington. GPD says Washington was shot after leaving a nightclub in the area. His body was discovered around 2 a.m. on Saturday on the corner of Nelson and Harvey Streets.

GPD investigators, GPD’s Special Response Team, and Washington County Sheriff’s Department personnel arrested six suspects in connection to the June 29th murder. Carlos Cross, Julius Dillard, Tariq Harris, Kendrick Malone, and Jeremiah Wilson were taken into custody.

These suspects are charged with Conspiracy to Commit (Armed Robbery) and Gang Activity. Kemarion Danley and Terriyon Gladney were arrested on charges of Capital Murder, Conspiracy to Commit, and Gang Activity.

 

Original – The Greenville Police Department is investigating two weekend homicides that claimed the lives of two men. GPD investigators are investigating the homicides. The first shooting took place around 2 a.m. on the corner of Nelson Street and Harvey Street.

Officers responded to the scene after receiving a call of a man shot. The body of 47-year-old Michael Washington was found on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. GPD investigators believe Washington had left one of the nightclubs before being shot.

Multiple people have been interviewed, but no one is in custody at this time. The second shooting happened in the 300 block of First Street. Officers responded to the scene in reference to a man lying in a vacant lot.

At the scene, the victim was identified as 49-year-old Kerry Overton. Overton was shot and pronounced deceased at the scene. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 662-378-8477.
