The Pueblo Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday morning. PPD reports that its officers responded to a Shot Spotter alert in the 200 block of South Portland Avenue around 12:35 a.m. on June 27, 2024.

A short time later, police were informed that the victim was at the intersection of East 5th Street and Reading Avenue. At the scene, an adult female victim was found near the intersection suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. PPD’s Crimes Against Persons Detectives and Crime Scene Investigations Units responded to investigate.

No other details are available at this time. PPD confirms this is its 13th homicide of the year.
