The Spokane Police Department has arrested a 29-year-old man who allegedly attempted to steal an ambulance. SPD reports that officers responded to the area of Washington and Sprague following a 911 call reporting a man had attempted to steal an ambulance around 2:49 p.m. on June 25, 2024.
At the scene, officers noticed that the driver’s side window of the ambulance was broken out. The ambulance was attending a medical emergency call when an upset man walked up, broke out the window, and entered the vehicle.
Witnesses told police that the suspect started revving the engine. Community members stepped in and removed the man from the vehicle. Officers found the suspect sitting a short distance away and detained him.
SPD says the suspect was in a nearby bank and was escorted out after becoming upset. After leaving the bank, the man allegedly walked up to the ambulance, broke the window, and got into the driver’s seat.
The man’s actions interfered with the medical crew’s ability to respond to their current call. 29-year-old Joshua T.L. Musselman was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of Attempted Vehicle Theft and Malicious Mischief.
