Spokane Police arrest 25-year-old in connection to late night shooting at Riverfront Park

The Spokane Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to a late night shooting at Riverfront Park. SPD reports that officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired in Riverfront Park on June 25, 2024.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a group of young people who informed them they were walking northbound on the Howard St. bridge when another group of young people on scooters approached and started a conversation.

A man on a scooter said he had a gun. The man allegedly pulled it out and started firing at the group. None of the victims were hit, but they say they feared for their lives. Officers found multiple shell casings on the bridge and found a man matching the suspect’s description.

A weapon was recovered from the suspect. SPD says it arrested 25-year-old Dominick J. Kirk Atchinson on five counts of 1st Degree Assault.
