Two men are behind bars in connection to a fatal hit-and-run collision on Howe Springs Road. The Florence Police Department reports that the incident occurred on June 6, 2024. The Fatal Accident Investigation Team investigated the incident.

FPD says Meredith Cannon was identified as the driver involved in the incident. The vehicle’s owner, Kenneth Burks, was allegedly a passenger at the time of the incident. Burks is accused of driving the vehicle back to his residence following the collision.

Meredith Cannon is charged with Failure to Give Information and Render Aid, Driving Under Suspension, Hit and Run Involving Death. Kenneth Burks is charged with Permitting Unauthorized Person to Drive and Accessory After the Fact to Murder.
