The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection to a homicide that occurred last night in Kearney. The Sheriff’s Office reports that it is investigating a homicide that occurred in northeast Kearney.

Around 10:00 p.m. on June 18, a 911 caller informed authorities that a man had been shot at a residence in the 16200 block of Kountry Ridge Drive. 50-year-old Ricky Allen succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Sheriff’s Deputies took a suspect into custody at the residence. The Clay County Sheriff says Allen’s wife, Melissa I. Hoffner-Allen, is charged with Second-Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action in his death. At this time, she is being held on a $250,000 bond.
