McMinnville Police arrest man twice in one day for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief, and Assault

The McMinnville Police Department has arrested a 27-year-old man after a shooting incident. MPD reports that dispatch received several calls about a subject walking in the area near First Baptist Church shooting multiple rounds around 5:45 p.m. on June 15, 2024.

One caller reported hearing approximately eight shots while another provided a description of the subject. A Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office deputy was in the area and spotted the subject as MPD officers arrived.

Deputies witnessed the subject shooting the handgun at one point. Officers and deputies confronted the subject at gunpoint and gave him commands. MPD says the man initially did not comply and continued walking southbound on Baker Street.

The man complied moments later and was taken into custody. 27-year-old Anthony S. Cook was booked on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Criminal Mischief. Cook was released with a future arraignment date.

Around 10:45 p.m., MPD claims Cook was involved in a physical altercation with a person known to him at a residence in southwest McMinnville. Cook left the residence before officers arrived. He returned while officers were still at the scene.

Cook was arrested again and booked on charges of Assault IV and Harassment. MPD confirms Cook is still in custody at this time.
