Slidell Police announce one subject of Amber Alert found deceased following abduction

Update 2 – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the capture of 36-year-old Daniel Callihan. TPSO reports that Callihan was taken into custody this afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi.

Callihan is accused of murdering 35-year-old Callie Brunett and her four-year-old daughter, Erin.

 

Update – Chief Travis said in a press conference that an undercover officer saw a suspicious person who fled in Jackson, Mississippi. The suspicious person was reportedly checking doorknobs. The person was apprehended and identified as Daniel Callihan. Callihan led officers to a vehicle where the six-year-old was found alive and well.

Callihan led officers to a wooded area where they found the body of the four-year-old victim. Chief Travis confirmed that Callihan was involved in a relationship with the victim. Travis said there was some type of relationship in the past, but he wasn’t sure whether they had split up. The six-year-old will be brought back to her grandparents.

Original – The Slidell Police Department has provided an update on the recent Amber Alert. SPD says the Amber Alert has been canceled. One of the two Tangipahoa Parish girls abducted has been found deceased.

SPD says one of the young girls abducted from a home in rural Tangipahoa Parish was found deceased this afternoon. The other girl is safe. 4-year-old Erin Brunett was found deceased in Jackson, Mississippi, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

6-year-old Jalie Brunett was found unharmed. The suspect has been identified as Daniel Callihan who is now in custody.
