A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Durham, North Carolina. The Durham Police Department reports that Osman Calderon-Juarez was arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred on Marne Avenue in April 2024.
Around 5:42 a.m. on April 21, 2024, officers responded to the Duke University Hospital for a walk-in gunshot wound patient. DPD says the adult male victim was suffering a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries, but his condition was later updated to stable. DPD detectives determined that the shooting had occurred outside of a residence in the 1300 block of Marne Avenue.
Investigators charged Calderon-Juarez with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of a Firearm by Felon on April 23. Calderon-Juarez was taken into custody in Washington DC on May 24. He is being held in the Durham County Jail with a $1 million secured bond.
