Garden City Police arrests 24-year-old man for DUI after crashing into a utility pole

A man is behind bars charged with DUI after crashing into a utility pole on Saturday afternoon. The Garden City Police Department reported that 24-year-old Emmanuel Tuyishime was allegedly driving under the influence when he crashed into a utility pole.

Around 3 p.m. on May 25, 2024, GCPD officers responded to the 300 block of East Pine Street for a non-injury accident. At the scene, officers learned that a vehicle had struck a utility pole.

GCPD says the investigation indicated that Tuyishime was traveling westbound on Pine Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a utility pole. It is alleged that Tuyishime was driving under the influence and provided a false name to officers.

Tuyishime was booked into the Finney County Jail for DUI, Driving While Suspended, and Interference LEO.
