Update 2 – Denton Police say a third person has been arrested in the deadly shooting on May 25. Detectives claim 31-year-old Daniel Butureza was also involved in the incident. He is accused of assisting in the aggravated assault by blocking the pickup truck.
Arrest warrants for murder have been issued for Butureza, Lowe, and Clowers.
Update – A second man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on May 25, 2024. The Denton Police Department reports that it arrested a second man for murder. On May 25, the driver of a pickup truck was parked in the 3200 block of West Windsor Drive.
DPD detectives believe three men approached the truck and forced the driver to the ground at gunpoint. 25-year-old River Williams allegedly entered the passenger side of the truck while armed with a firearm.
The driver reportedly got into the truck and tried to drive away. The driver and Williams struggled for the gun. Both were shot. River Williams was pronounced deceased at the scene. The diver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
DPD detectives say 34-year-old Zachary Lowe and 24-year-old Riley Clowers committed the offense of murder because they presented weapons during the commission of an aggravated assault and Williams died during the commission of said assault.
Lowe was arrested in Saginaw on Tuesday afternoon. He has been booked into the City of Denton Jail. Clowers remains behind bars at the Denton County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
Original – A 24-year-old Denton man has been arrested in connection to a fatal overnight shooting. The Denton Police Department reports that a man was arrested for Murder in an ongoing investigation into a deadly overnight shooting.
24-year-old Riley Clowers was arrested on Saturday in Sanger without incident. Detectives say Clowers and an unidentified man approached a male driver victim who was in a pickup truck in the 3200 block of West Windsor Drive.
The unidentified male entered the truck with a firearm before the driver tried to drive away. The unidentified man and the driver got into a struggle for the firearm inside the vehicle. At some point, both men were shot.
The unidentified man succumbed to his injuries. Detectives claim Clowers committed the offense of murder because he presented a weapon during the commission of an aggravated assault and the deceased man died during the commission of that assault.
