Kankakee County Coroner’s Office identifies victims of shooting in Pembroke Township

Two people were killed in a shooting in Pembroke Township, Illinois. Now, the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims. Around 12:27 a.m. on May 25, 2024, the coroner’s office responded to the scene of a shooting near 13100 East Central Street in Pembroke Township.

At the scene, the Coroner’s Office pronounced 32-year-old Edward E. Colon deceased. Around 6:26 a.m., the Coroner’s Office was informed of a second shooting death at Riverside Medical Center.

The second victim was identified as 44-year-old Milton J. Sykes. Autopsies were completed on May 25 and concluded that both victims died from multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting is being investigated by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department.
