Family violence incident leads to officer-involved shooting – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office

A man was shot and killed by deputies on Friday night following a family violence incident. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded to a family violence incident involving an individual armed with a knife around 8:20 p.m. on May 24, 2024.

At the scene, deputies encountered a man who reportedly disobeyed verbal commands to drop his knife and surrender. MCSO says the individual was known to have a history of mental health issues.

He was experiencing a manic episode so his family called MCSO, according to authorities. MCSO says the individual approached officers with the knife leading to an officer-involved shooting.

The male subject was shot and killed. No deputies were injured during this incident. MCSO has identified the deceased as 21-year-old Kedrayn Blueford. The shooting will be investigated by MCSO’s Homicide and Violent Crimes unit as well as Crime Scene Investigators, Texas Ranges, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Sheriff Rand Henderson said in a statement, “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the individual involved in tonight’s tragic incident. We are profoundly saddened by this loss and understand the immense grief and pain the family is experiencing. Our thoughts are also with our Deputies, who are deeply affected by this unfortunate event.”
