A 34-year-old Hobbs, New Mexico man has been arrested in connection to a double homicide that occurred earlier this month. Officers with the Hobbs Police Department responded to an incident in the 600 block of North McKinley around 11:16 p.m. on May 15.
At the scene, officers found 54-year-old David Castillo and 52-year-old Felipe Castillo suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS responded to the scene, but both victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
An arrest warrant was issued for 34-year-old David Rodriguez-Baeza, aka “Paps”, eight days later. On May 23, Rodriguez-Baeza was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with two counts of Murder 1st Degree.
HPD says he has an extensive criminal history including 12x Probation Violation, Parole Violation, Traffic Offenses 40+x, Aggravated DWI, Robbery, Battery Against a Household Member, and more.
