A manhunt and standoff in Cleveland, Tennessee has led to a rape suspect being apprehended. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reports that Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi was finally taken into custody after he surrendered peacefully.

HCSO Criminal Warrants Unit carried out a manhunt for Ajayi in an Aggravated Rape case. Criminal Warrants detectives and Bradley County Sheriff’s Office investigators located the suspect at an address in Bradley County.

Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi refused to surrender. Detectives spoke to the suspect on the phone and urged him to surrender. HCSO reports that the suspect refused and claimed to have a gun. Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi allegedly said he was going to act in a way that would force law enforcement to kill him.

Detectives maintained contact and eventually convinced Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi to surrender peacefully. HCSO says Ajayi was found to be in possession of a toy BB pistol that resembled a real gun. Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on several active felony warrants.

Ajayi is also facing four counts of Aggravated Rape and one count of Rape, Aggravated Burglary, Sexual Battery, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Domestic Assault.
