A Winston-Salem woman was killed due to a hit-and-run collision on May 12, 2024. Now, a woman is behind bars after being charged with Felonious Hit-and-Run. The Thomasville Police Department reports that a Thomasville woman has been charged in connection to the hit-and-run.
Around 4:43 a.m. on May 12, 2024, TPD officers responded to the 1100 block of Liberty Drive in response to an unconscious woman lying in the roadway. Officers determined that the woman had been walking south in the outside lane of travel.
The offending vehicle was also traveling south. The vehicle struck the female and continued south on Liberty Drive without stopping. 52-year-old Janice Batten succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Around 9:26 a.m. on May 16, 44-year-old Misty Covington turned herself in to authorities. She is charged with felonious hit-and-run. She was booked into the Davidson County Jail and received a $25,000 secured bond.
